In the jungle is Lionel
Move over Simba because Lionel is the now the cutest lion in the jungle!
My friend is expecting his first baby this August. I wanted to crochet a doll as a gift and he suggested a jungle animal b/c they’re going w/ a jungle theme. The baby is to be born in August…a Leo, so I looked around for a pattern but didn’t find anything nice. I decided it was time to create my own. That’s how my Lionel concept was conceived!
Lionel’s best feature is his mane. I used my hook and crocheted a the wavy technique right into the head. Now if only I can figure out how to document the pattern….
Making Amigurumi Fox
Here are progress shots of my latest amigurumi fox. Her name is “Roxy”. She is made using TLC yarn, which is a brand of Red Heart. I’m not a huge fan of it, except it comes in lovely colours. But it is quite thick and rough feeling. I do like it better than Bernat Satin. For some reason Bernat Satin “fuzzes” out. I think I handle it too much in the making process (turning inside out and outside in, putting on the eyes, sewing on the face, etc, etc…) TLC could withstand all the rough-housing I do…
I think I will go back to using Lion Brand 100% wool. They have gorgeous colours too.
Roxy’s dress is made from Patons SWS soy wool. I wasn’t a fan at first, but they do have some lovely colours and the thickness matches well with the TLC. Aaaahhh, the learning process never ends ~:0)
Congrats, Joy & David
It was my latest triumph in paper quilling a heart. My inspiration was beautiful piping on a wedding cake. I was naive enough to believe my cat appreciated it as much as I did, since she watched me put all the pieces together. I guess I didn’t realize how much she liked it, as it became her new toy when I turned my back. My husband saved most of it and I didn’t look carefully enough before glueing it down to the card – permanently. I’ll just have to remind the newlyweds on the part about “through good times and bad…
Two Hearts that beat as One…
Too fun! I couldn’t stop at one.
Super easy and a very ingenious way to make THE cutest crocheted hearts I’ve ever seen. Couldn’t even wait to tie them off properly before taking pix of them.

How to Blanket Stitch
I’m pretty good at figuring out origami instructions, but somehow when it comes to sewing stitches, I need ABC instructions! This is a wonderful step-by-step blog that I feel confident in following!
Koko, the sleeping kitty
Koko loves to stay up late and sleep in, enjoying happy dreams, twitching now and then.
I had a hard time with the nose – this was the third attempt cut from a sheet of felt with edges folded over. The limbs are tiny and difficult to crochet, but worth the agility, especially since he’s not filled too much. He’s got pellets in all limbs and belly, and is fun to pose.
Thank you for generously translating your pattern Nekoyama!
Crazy Cupcake
Here is my newest cupcake. It was a bit of a doozy to crochet! I broke my 6mm plastic crochet hook making this and had to use my Clover 3.5mm, just really loosely! Now I know what I need to buy next! Haha!
Anyways, I love this new Bernat MAX yarn. It has 75% acrylic and 25% wool, has varying thicknesses of yarn, as well as variegated colour. I LOVE IT!! My husband thinks it looks weird, but I love it. It doesn’t even need sprinkles!
Hooo…hooo!!!
Hooo!! Hooo!! These cute little owlettes will help keep watch for you. These little guys are are part of my eco-Cute collection of crocheted goodies. Instead of polyfil, I’ve cut up plastic shopping bags for stuffing.
If you’re interested in making a little owlette for yourself, find the super easy and free pattern off Roman Sock’s website. Thank you Roman Sock for sharing your patterns!
