Mini-me of Lexi and her bed. The perfect yarn was found to match Lexi’s fur and painstakingly hooked with a 4 mm (10 was suggested!) by Bonnie, our latest member of the crocheting cult. Her mischievous face is detailed by bangs, brows, whiskers – but best of all is the way the legs are crimped so paws rest daintily on the floor just like in real life. I honestly don’t know how newbies I teach surpass me on patience dealing with yarn that is difficult to hook! I’m so impressed, especially with the tail which must have been hell to handle in such a small ring.
Her bed is just like the real thing, rings of cardboard – then she goes a step further with circles of yarn pulled up the sides before decreasing at the top. Totally looks like a wicker basket to me. She now sits on my fireplace mantel, watching our every move.
